Your Gateway to MBA in Karnataka

KPPGCA - Established on 29th January 2003, was born of a felt need for a professional body to provide proactive support to professional education and facilitate and streamline admission to postgraduate professional courses, viz MBA, PGDM and MCA. KPPGCA has in its fold over and approved by AICTE 189 member institutions which are affiliated to respective universities in Karnataka.

During the past 14 years, KPPGCA has been orchestrating the process of admission to MBA and MCA courses to fill the management quota of seats in the member institutions by holding the "Karnataka Management Admission Test (KMAT)" conducted online remote proctored. Besides facilitating admission to MBA and MCA courses, KPPGCA is actively spearheading a variety of academic curricular and co-curricular programmes.

Why MBA in Karnataka

Karnataka is the manufacturing hub for some of the largest public sector industries in India, including Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, National Aerospace Laboratories, Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited, Indian Telephone Industries, Bharath Earth Movers Limited and HMT (formerly Hindustan Machine Tools), which are based in Bangalore. As of 2007 there were nearly 2,000 firms operating out of Karnataka. Many of them, including two of India's biggest software firms, Infosys and Wipro are also head quartered in the state.

Karnataka also leads the nation in Biotechnology. It is home to India's largest bio cluster with 158 of the country's 320 biotechnology firms being based here, the state also accounts for 75% of India's floriculture, an upcoming industry which supplies flowers and ornamental plants worldwide.

Seven of India's leading banks Canara Bank, Syndicate Bank, Corporation Bank, Vijaya Bank, Karnataka Bank, Vysya Bank and the State Bank of Mysore originated in this state. The coastal districts of Udupi and Dakshina Kannada have a branch for every 500 persons - the best distribution of banks in India.

As on day, Karnataka has 4767 branches of different bank with each branch serving 10,000 persons, which is lower than the national average of 16,000.

Why MCA in Karnataka

Information Technology is growing rapidly. Increasing applications of computers in almost all areas of human endeavour has led to a vibrant industry with concurrent rapid change in technology. Thus, the challenge in designing a curriculum is identify the areas of core competence which is reasonably stable and provide sufficient number of electives and laboratories to accommodate changes.

MCA is a two-year (4 semesters) course, The students entering MCA must have a B.C.A./B.Sc./B.Com/B.A.degree with Mathematics as one of the subjects at 10+2 level or at graduation. Of the 4 semesters one semester is to be spent in an industry developing a software system.

The MCA programme is planned to have 5 theory subjects plus two laboratories each semester.
